A Beautiful
Southport 30 Lobster Boat

The Southport 30

The Maine Lobster Boat is the evolutionary culmination of hundreds of years of working boat design. Our Southport 30 is truly a traditional version of this type, harking back to the days when form and function worked gracefully together.

Many modern working lobster boats sacrifice form for function. Ease of construction and desire for increased carrying capacity have changed the way modern lobster boats are designed.

Our Southport 30 was developed from the lines of a 1950's working lobster boat designed by Everett Barlow, a prominent Boothbay, Maine boat designer and builder. The form of the Southport 30 retains the grace of these older vessels while sacrificing nothing to newer designs in performance and functionality.

Notice the perfectly elegant sheer line and tumblehome transom. The Southport 30 cruises easily at over 20 knots with top speeds of up to 30 knots (depending on powering). The hull form is of the Semi-Displacement type - solid and stable at slow speeds, with a soft ride on the high speed end.

Cruising speed is 20 knots, with top speed in excess of 25 knots. These boats are used as Cruisers, Picnic Boats, Island Transports, and Sportfishing Boats.

Several different configurations are available: Hardtop Lobsterboat, Soft Top "Bass Boat", Open Launch, or the Custom Configuration to suit your need. Let us show you what Quality Maine Craftsmanship is all about.
