Hull 10
One of two nearly identical boats built side by side over the winter of 2001 and 2002, the innovation continued on this boat. The V drive, introduced in hull #9, was separated from the engine and mounted further forward in the bilge. This enabled a better shaft angle (shallower). Also added was a Aqua Drive Shafting system. This system allows the engine and transmission to be soft mounted. This boat was fast and quiet! Built to a simple picnic boat specification, its still one of our favorites, expecially since we’ve been honored to continue to care for it every year since new – 14 years as of this writing! Her Awlgrip job (applied about 7 years ago) still looks great!

Hull 14
This hull was built in 2004, but the boat was not launched until about 2010. It was purchased by a “band of brothers” who are a pretty handy bunch! Over the several years that they worked on the boat, they did a great job of finishing her out. She currently operates out of Boothbay Harbor and has lots of really nice features that they came up with on their own! We’re so glad that we get to help them maintain the boat, although they do most of the work, and they do it well!

Hull 13
This boat solidified the wisdom of the earlier year’s innovations:
The remote V drive and the extended cabin that it enabled are all here. Anchor windlass and stern seat here too. This boat has possibly seen the most service, operating as far south as Georgia, but she is here in Boothbay every summer!

Hull 12
This boat was a very custom build in several respects:
The owner is tall and so we raised the roof about 4 inches.
The boat was to be used as sort of marine pickup truck in service toa Maine Island, and so the teak was installed unfinished to minimize the maintenance.
The then new Volvo common rail engine was installed for the first time.

Hull 11
Launched in 2002, this boat was built for an avid sport fisherman in Rhode Island. If the stories can be believed, a lot of Strippers came over the rail of this boat! Built alongside Hull #10 in 2001-2002, this boat has the quiet and efficient remote mounted V drive and Aquadrive Marine Shafting System. For many years we enjoyed the trip to and from Rhode Island with the boat as we were pleased to care for this boat. This boat eventually got a Bow Thruster, which was very useful for the owner who had to dock the boat in a slip often dealing with lots of cross current.

Hull 9
With Hull #9 we started to innovate. This boat (originally black, now green) has a V drive transmission on the engine. This innovation enabled the engine to be moved aft in the cockpit. This opened up space at the front end of the cockpit. Some of this additional space was added to the cabin to provide more accommodation space and make the boat a better and more comfortable cruising boat. At this time this boat is one of the finest examples in our fleet sporting many great features: Anchor windlass, Bow Thruster, Stereo, Auto pilot, Custom seating and dining area in the cockpit, High end helm chairs, shore power, Lots of varnished teak, and a full bimini type canvas cockpit covering. It now resides in the Royal River in Yarmouth, Maine.

Hull 8 (Part Two)
This boat is now in the shop for a complete makeover: This Bass boat is being converted to a Hard Top and the inboard power is being converted to Outboard Power! We are very excited about this project and look forward to sea trials during summer 2016. We have discussed outboard power for these boats for years, and finally the right client came along to give it a try! Stay tuned for more on this, or call us for an update on how this came out! We plan for sea trials in 2016, and final fit out of the boat for delivery in 2017. Find more about this project elsewhere on this site.

Hull 6
Built in 1998, this hard Top example of the Southport 30 features a “summer” wheelhouse which is open on both sides (of course it can be closed in with curtains!). Trimmed out with Bronze hardware and lots of beautiful varnished Mahogany, she is a real head turner! Currently operating south of Cape Cod.

Hull 2
Launched new in 1996, this boat was custom built of Foam strips sheathed with fiberglass inside and out. She still plies the waters of the Boothbay Region. She is outfitted with Teak Decking, varnished teak exterior trim. and Mahogany ceiling planking. This was the first Hart Top version of the Southport 30.

Hull 1
This boat, launched in 1995, was custom built of strip planks and sheathed in Epoxy. It is finished out with lots of varnished Teak and Mahogany, and we think you’ll agree that she is a vision of nautical beauty! The Southport 30 Hull is very well suited for use as an open boat or Launch, with many fit-out possibilities. Various seating arrangements can be envisioned and a head or small cuddy could be included. We’d be happy to help you design the perfect elegant launch for your tastes!

Hull 16
This is the last in the line to date. The recession hit and interest in custom boats dried up. This boat was a shining example of the type, the Remote V drive and lots of premium features, we think she is among the smoothest and quietest Southport 30’s we built. We were thrilled to be asked to install a varnished teak transom on this boat.
